ROAD TRIP - DAY 2 (5-10-2012)

Onalaska, Wisconsin to Interior, South Dakota
About 580 miles, 10 hours.

Morning drive through Onalaska and La Crosse, entering Minnesota. Mississipi river, all the lakes and forest made for impressive entry into Minnesota. Really nice weather, mostly sunny and warm. In about fifteen minutes Minnesota changed and became state of farm land. Horribly boring drive.

12.00 We stopped in Blue Earth, Minnesota, to see Green Giant Statue.

We continued driving through Minnesota's kind of boring farm land, just to discover that South Dakota has a lot of farm land too.

2.00 pm Went through road work into Sioux Falls, South Dakota. We just wanted to pause long and boring drive and do some sightseeing. We parked in Falls park, which was full of school children, and walked around waterfalls and ate lunch. Nice break.

And more farm land. This time in South Dakota. We changed our plan a bit and decided to drive into Badlands national park and spend night in small town of Interior. For quite a while we were fighting really strong wind, that was kicking the car to the side. And then finally, with sunset approaching, we saw Badlands. The site was incredible, it look like we are on different planet. Strong wind, cold temperature and darkness stopped us from further exploration. We stayed in small family run motel.
