ROAD TRIP - DAY 4 (5-12-2012)

Ten Sleep, Wyoming to Bozeman, Montana.
About 350 miles, 6.5 hours.

We woke up in tiny and sleepy Ten Sleep, Wyoming. Same morning routine, move our bags to car, check everything and get ready to hit the road. Quick stop in small bakery for a sandwich and coffee. And ... drive towards Yellowstone National Park. It was pretty long drive and we were quite happy to be in Cody, Wyoming. Last town before the park.

We barely left town, when we stopped at Buffalo Bill Dam. It did not look too impressive form road, but we stopped and let guide guy on electric golf cart take us to the dam and a visitor center. From that view the dam and falling water was much more impressive.

And finally driving into the park.

Really nice scenery, mountains and still a lot of snow. But compare to driving along farm land for hours, this was something to enjoy.

We were trying to see some wildlife, but so far we just saw some farm animals, some deer and birds flying around. The first attraction in the park was West Thumb. We parked and were quite surprised by number of people there. Apparently, in summer, the park is like Disneyland. West Thumb was short trail on the lake around many springs and boiling water flowing to the lake. It was really interesting and the view was great, smoking ground, lake and snow covered mountains in the back. And ... we saw some wildlife ...

Next stop was Old Faithful. The parking lots, the lodge and the visitor center were huge and ready to accommodate thousands and thousands of people. I would not want to be there in summer.
The site was really nice, we took longer hike and decided to wait for eruption of Old Faithful. We as well saw some wildlife, in the parking lot of Old Faithful. Some big animals.

The estimated time of eruption passed and we were still waiting. But it was sunny and warm and we were enjoying some relaxing time waiting for the big thing. We saw it and left.
We made few scenery stops, but otherwise we were on the way to Bozeman, where we were going to spend a night. There were more cars on the road, so we were going a bit slower and then we had to stop few times, because the bisons were walking on the road. Really impressive look.

Driving and driving. We arrived relatively early, around 6 pm, and got room in Rainbow motel in Bozeman, Montana. Dinner at Tarantino's pizza.
